Pavilion 6

Paris Expo Porte de Versailles

"Awning luminous "

Architects: Jean Nouvel

A new Pavilion 6 is coming into being, replacing the old Pavilions 6 and 8. The structure of the canopy allows for a multitude of luminous messages of varying sizes and colors to be suspended. As the event approaches, the facade unfolds gradually, revealing colored rays of light. This combined movement ends on the opening day of the event, like a countdown. A few days before the end of the event, the opposite movement begins.

Pavilion 6 is composed mainly of:
  • From 16.000 m2 of exhibition space
  • From 900 m2 of ancillary space (bar/fast food areas, sanitary blocks, a restaurant set up in 6. 1 to the north, open to the Pavilion 6 forecourt, etc.)
  • From 2.000 m2 of event space-greenhouse-restaurant-roof garden in the north block
  • From an urban agriculture program of about 12.000 m2 on the roof of the pavilion.
  • A covered connecting footbridge connects Pavilion 4 and Pavilion 6 with escalators and elevators.
  • A connecting footbridge connects Pavilion 6 to the east to the Avenue de la Porte de la Plaine.
